Fees & rebates.
Direct pricing, no surprises. Sessions are $200 for 50 minutes, online. With a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, most people are eligible for a $98.95 Medicare rebate, bringing the out-of-pocket cost to around $101.

Concession rate
A concession rate of $160 per session is available to clients receiving an eligible Centrelink benefit, including:
- Disability Support Pension
- JobSeeker Payment
- Carer Payment
If you're on a different Centrelink benefit and the standard fee isn't workable, mention it on the intro call and we'll work something out.
The Medicare rebate ($98.95) still applies on top of the concession rate, bringing the out-of-pocket cost to around $61 per session for clients with an MHCP.
Medicare rebates (Mental Health Care Plan)
Most clients access sessions through a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), organised through your GP. Under an MHCP, Medicare provides a rebate of $98.95 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
How it works:
- Book a longer appointment with your GP and let them know you'd like to discuss a Mental Health Care Plan.
- Your GP completes the plan and refers you to a registered psychologist (me, in this case).
- You attend sessions and pay the full fee at the end of each session.
- I submit your Medicare claim on your behalf — the rebate is paid back into the bank account Medicare has on file, usually within 1–3 business days.
For sexual concerns specifically: Medicare rebates apply when there's a mental health component to what we're working on. For sexual concerns, that's almost always the case — distress, anxiety, low mood, or relationship strain are usually part of the picture. We'll work out what applies on the intro call.
If you don't have an MHCP yet, that's fine. You can still book sessions and organise the plan with your GP at any point.
Private pay (no MHCP needed)
You don't need a Mental Health Care Plan to book. Some clients prefer to pay privately for one of three reasons:
- They want to start now and don't want to wait for a GP appointment.
- They don't have a regular GP, or don't want a mental health concern on their medical record.
- They've already used their 10 Medicare-rebated sessions for the year.
If you're paying privately, the standard session fee ($200) applies — no Medicare rebate, but no GP referral required either. You can also start with private pay and add an MHCP later if you decide to.
Private health insurance
If your private health insurance includes psychology under extras cover, you may be eligible for a partial rebate. Rebates vary widely by fund and by policy — usually $40–$80 per session, with annual caps.
For administrative simplicity, the practice doesn't claim directly. You pay the full fee, and I provide a receipt with everything your fund needs — including the relevant item number and provider details. You then submit the claim through your fund's app or website. The rebate is paid back to you, usually within a few days.
Note: You can't claim both Medicare and private health rebates for the same session. Most clients use Medicare under an MHCP because the rebate is higher.
Payment
Two options:
- Card on file (default). You enter your card details once before your first session. Each session is then billed automatically at the end of the appointment. Most clients choose this — it's simpler, no invoices to chase, and the Medicare rebate processes immediately.
- Invoice (on request). If you'd prefer to be invoiced, I can do that. Invoices are sent after each session and due within 7 days.
Either way, you'll receive a receipt that includes everything Medicare or your private health fund needs.
Cancellations and missed sessions
Sessions are scheduled 2–3 weeks in advance and can't usually be filled at short notice. The cancellation policy reflects that.
- More than 48 hours' notice: No charge. We reschedule.
- Less than 48 hours' notice: Full session fee charged.
- Missed appointments (no-show): Full session fee charged.
Medicare and private health rebates don't apply to cancellation fees.
If something genuinely unexpected comes up — a hospital admission, a death in the family, an emergency at work — get in touch and we'll work it out. The policy is firm but I'm not unreasonable about it.
If cost is still a barrier
If the concession rate still isn't workable, there are good free and low-cost options across Australia. The resources page lists free counselling services for men (including MensLine and Beyond Blue), as well as evidence-based self-help programs developed by Australian clinical psychology teams.
If you're not sure whether any of the options work for you, book the intro call anyway — we'll talk it through and I'll point you somewhere useful if therapy with me isn't the right fit financially.
